After breakfast, meet your tour guide and driver at your downtown hotel. The first stop of your private guided Xian tour commences with the spectacular Terracotta Army.
It is known as the Eighth Wonder of the World, and there are over 1,000 terracotta soldiers with different images. Now the museum includes Pit 1 (the largest pit), Pit 2, Pit 3, and the exhibition hall of the chariots and horses. Given its large scale, it will take 2 to 3 hours to visit. And the guide will explain stories behind these terracotta warriors to help you learn more about them.
Terracotta Warriors and Horses in Xian In the afternoon, the Tang Bo Art Museum awaits, where you can see Shaanxi folk art and ancient Chinese paintings. Your guide will explain some Huxian farmers' paintings, the art of shadow puppetry, and paper cutting.
Continue your cultural exploration at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the oldest and largest square brick tower in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). Xuanzang, an eminent monk of the Tang Dynasty, once translated the Buddhist scriptures that he brought back to China from India here. It has a history of more than 1350 years.

After breakfast, your guide will take you to explore the Ancient City Wall. It has a circumference of 13.74 km and surrounds the center of Xi'an. Your guide will tell the story of the fortification. You can ride a bicycle on the wall to save energy (optional).
Afterward, you will be transferred to Bell and Drum Tower Square. Located in the center of Xi'an stands the Bell Tower, which is considered a landmark of the city. Then, stroll around the city walls to Shuyuan Gate, which is a pedestrian street. The Guanzhong Academy, the highest academic institution in Shaanxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties, is located on this street. Along this quaint street, you will see calligraphy and painting stores selling Chinese four treasures and local handicrafts.
Bike Riding on the Xian City Wall After a leisurely lunch, continue your Xian culture tour by wandering along Defu Alley. It's a stone-paved path lined with quaint bars, coffee shops, bookstores and more. Continue through the Muslim Quarter and explore the Gao Family Courtyard, hidden in a maze of alleys. Here you can watch an authentic traditional shadow puppet show. At last, return to your hotel.

Shadow Play - Day 3: Han Dynasty Tomb in XianExplore the Most Well Preserved Imperial Tomb of the Han Dynasty
Today's adventure in Xian takes you to the Hanyangling Museum, a tomb where Emperor Jing and Empress Wang of the Western Han Dynasty were buried together. It was first built in 153 BC and completed in 126 BC. This is the most well preserved Han dynasty imperial mausoleum discovered so far.
You will be led to explore the underground tomb, where there are one third of the size of the Terra Cotta Warriors (about 60 cm high), without arms. The tour guide will explain ancient funeral rituals to you.
